a graphic representing anger

Anger is part of our normal lives and is a natural, healthy emotion when responding to things that upset us like deceit, being attacked physically or verbally, unfair treatment, etc... When our anger is manageable, then there is not an issue, but if it became unmanageable and uncontrollable, then there can be mental and physical issues, as well as possible harm to yourself and others.

Everyone expresses anger in their own ways...

Anger often presents as uncontrollable outburst, and this can be due to various reasons. It could be physical issues such as hormones or pain. Alternatively it could be mental, caused from emotions such as frustration, confusion, jealousy, from situations in our lives such as family or work. These then begin to impact negatively on our mind and body.

Everyone expresses anger in their own ways, and this can be influenced by how well you are able to identify and cope with the feelings causing it. If you are not coping and you are finding your anger issues are affecting your daily life, then therapy can help you identify why you are feeling this way, and give you coping mechanisms to help with the issues which typically are :

  • Finding yourself being aggressive outwardly, maybe damaging things and being verbally abusive.
  • Bottling the anger up and abusing yourself inwardly, telling yourself how much you hate yourself or are disgusted by your behaviour.
  • Self-harming or denying yourself basic things like food or treats as a punishment.
  • Withdrawing and ignoring people, not engaging in things you need to do, being very moody and difficult to be around.

However your anger manifests itself, if it is affecting your daily life then it needs to be addressed before serious damage is caused to your mental and physical health, your family, career or maybe your education. It can lead to a breakdown or possibly prison if not controlled.

How we can help...

We use therapy techniques such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to explore your thoughts leading to your behaviours, hypnotherapy to teach you how to relax and dissolve the feelings, and maybe some NLP to change how your internalise this and turn it into confidence and resilience. Other treatments can be employed if the feelings are totally overwhelming, but they will be discussed as part of your treatment plan should they be relevant.

You will be amazed how quickly we can resolve these issues and teach you techniques to help you in the future.
